Lord Dharmasaastha is the unified form of Lord Maha Vishnu and Lord Shiva, who known as the creator and the destroyer of the world. As per puranas Sree Dharmasaastha took eight incarnations in different forms at different events to save the world from evil effects. Out of eight last one is the well known story of Lord Ayyappa of Sabarimala. This is one of the incarnation which having One consort Prabha and son Sathyaka. This incarnated form is consecrated very few places in the world. Another one incarnated form has two consorts known Purna & Pushkala, and another one is know as ‘Kiratha Saastha’ – a tribal king.
Idols in the Temple has also rarest one. As Lord Shiva makes benign presence with Shakti, ‘Lord Dharmasastha’ makes gracious presence with his consort ‘Prabha’ and son ‘Sathyaka’. All the three idols of Lord Dharmasaastha, Devi Prabha, and Lord Sathyakan are installed on one ‘Peedam’ (Seat) but each idols has its own ‘Padmapeedam’ (Lotus seat).
‘Lord Dharmasastha’ is sitting in Padmasana pose and left hand keeps on left knee and right hand holds Poorna Kalasam, which believes “Abhista Varadayi” means unlimited blessing will pour on the seeking devotees.
Devi ‘Prabha’ is sitting in Padmasana pose and left hand keeps on left knee and right hand with Varada mudra who is also deliver blessing of prosperity to seeking devotees.
Lord ‘Sathyaka’ is in standing posture and holds one banana in the right hand which believes a pleasant and satisfied form. Which symbolises to give energy to youth and children.
Upadevathas: Upadevathas and importance in the temple are as follows
Ganashji: Ganeshji in the pleasant pose is consecrate inside Sreekovil (outside Garbhagraha) near south entrance. In which, believes Ganeshji stand for removing all obstacles from the day to day life.
Dakshina moorthy: Is the saint form of Lord Shiva, as mentioned in the Shivpuran, the Lord shiva did a fervent penance in ‘Kailash’ underneath of one benien tree, then he known as Dakshina moorthy. In this form he is kind enough to bless with Vidhya –wisdom - to the seeking devotees. Dakshinamoorthy is consecrated inside the Sreekovil but (outside Garbhagraha) near south entrance.
Offering and pry to Dakshinamoorthy will be importance to all, especially for students and children
Annapoornaswari: Sree Parvathy’s presence in this temple is in the form of Annapurnaswari who incarnated to eliminate starvation. Temple for Annapurneswari’s shall be north west part of the Nalambalam, Devi will be standing posture facing east with ‘Varada hastha’ for blessing the seeking devotees with wealth.
Hanumanji: There is a presence of pleasant form of Lord Hanuman in this Temple Temple for Hanumanji shall be north east part of the Nalambalam, Hanumanji will be standing posture facing west with ‘folded hands’ for blessing the seeking devotees with health.
Navagraha: All Navagrahas will be consecrated in the Navagraha Mandapam at the southeast side of the main Temple. Every person are influenced with the effect of each Planets (Graha’s) in his life cycle according to the birth time. Astrology the study of the movements of planets says that good and bad at certain juncture of the life is depends upon the planetorial changes, the influence of the planets are varies. One should please the Grahas with poojas and offerings to change of the planetorial effect in the life cycle to prevail blessings and overcome all obstacles to attain salvation.
Lord Sani: It is believed that Lord Sani’ is the most evil effected Graha amongst Navagraha. At this holy place the divine effect of the pleasant ‘Lord Sani’ is at the pinnacle, It is well known that the effect of Lord Sani provides extreme misery and losses. But one propitiate Lord Sani and attains the virtuous effects of Lord Sani’s blessings, gets devoid of the miseries and contracts prosperity in abundance, as is experienced.
The rituals/ poojas for eradication of evil effects Lord Sani is being performed in this Temple being considered to be the most auspicious and effective one to attain salvation.
Naga Devatha(Sarpant God): The presence of ‘Naga Devatas’-known as living Gods -are very rare at outside Kerala. In this Temple Naga Devathas shall be consecrated North east part of the main Temple.
Tahanthri: Every Temple has Thanthri, he is defers from poojari, is the Guru Priest and very close to the deity of the Temple. He is the authority to consecrate the deity, and decide the rituals/ poojas for the deity. The person who becomes the Thantri should be well knowledgeable on Vedas and Saastras.
Brahamasree Puthumana Damodaran Sreedharan Namboothiri, who belongs in a famous Thanthri family at Ambalappuzha [Alleppey (dist) Kerala] Puthumala Illam is the Thanthri of this Temple. He is Thanthri for about 800 temple in India. He is a well known Veda Sastra Pandit, hundreds of students learning Vedic classes from him.
